Brigade History

My first encounter with any member of the Brigade was (back then) Private Engage and Corporal Laddie (now known as Exodus) during a matchmaking game in Halo 3. After a fun game Engage approached me (and another person who later joined the clan; his name was Zelamin) and asked if I was interested in joining a clan. I was certainly interested and asked for the website, when I was met with the Brigade Headquarters for the very first time I was most certainly impressed and glad to see that Australians made up part of this clan. Without further ado, I got to work on my enlistment and officially made a request to join the Dropshock Brigade on May 1, 2010.

First Sergeant Equinox made the 'Welcome to the Brigade' post on my initial enlistment, and from there I got to work straight away on my merit. Two days later I attended my Boot Camp (which happened to fall on the same day as the launch of the Halo: Reach Beta), which was run by Captain Syphex, Sergeant Welsh and Corporal Laddie. Quickly passing that part of the enlistment, I moved on to getting to know the Australian members of the Brigade; at the time they were Prime, Welsh, Laddie, Taxadox and Engage. I played a lot of the Halo: Reach Betaparticularly with Engage and SanguineSpartan (now known as Sanguine), and I found myself fitting in well and comfortably in the Brigade and its causes.

During the time between my Boot Camp and my Enlistment Exam Private Engage offered me sponsorship; the final requirement that I needed before taking on the enlistment exam. The time eventually came for me to sit my exam; and Prime announced that I had passed it on May 9, 2010. Shortly afterwards Syphex gave me the official promotion in honor of my success, and I was transferred into 1st Squad, 3rd Platoon under the command of Sergeant Welsh and Second Lieutenant Prime. It was from this day forward that my career within the Dropshock Brigade truly began.

Straight away I was fitting in well with the other members of 1st Squad, and very quickly we formed a tight-knit team. I found myself looking for ways to improve the Squad as soon as I was transferred to it. I ended up suggesting many new ideas (and that hasn't changed), and eventually the day came when I was promoted to Information Analyst for 1st Squad, on May 31st, 2010. I started making analytical reports for all of 1st Squads activities, and on that day my skills and experience started to become of a great use for 3rd Platoon.

Some unfortunate circumstances arrived at my front door shortly after I became Information Analyst, and as a result I was forced to take an indefinite Leave of Absence on June 19th, 2010. I was still very active in the Brigade Headquarters and kept up my normal duties wherever possible.

Even from the restrictions of my LoA, I kept at it. I didn't want to let the Brigade down, and I relentlessly assisted wherever I could. This was being noticed by many, and as a result 2Lt. Prime promoted me to the rank of Corporal on July 27th, 2010, despite remaining on an indefinite LoA. I was promoted alongside European Stricken, who was also promoted to Corporal to lead the European force of the Brigade.

I continued to provide assistance where I could, and new opportunites for me arose when I got my friend and neighbour Cashmere to join the Brigade. Together we made a great team, and due to regular gatherings I was able to return from my LoA on August 1st, 2010. I resumed my normal duties as a Squad Assistant, up around until the day that Halo: Reach was launched.

The whole Brigade had changed; My buddy Engage was promoted to Second Lieutenant, and shortly after a new Company Structure was announced, merging all of the Australians and Europeans together into the one group, under Engage's lead (Prime was currently doing exams, and as such was not in a Company).

Things were different. Shortly after the release of Reach, a massive influx of Australian recruits enlisted and made it into Bravo, which eventually grew to the amount of 24 members at one point. Things were looking bigger and brighter for the foreigners of the Brigade every nearing day.

It was only a matter of time before I finally received the opportunity to play Halo with our esteemed leader, Vitamin. The day was September 26th, 2010. It was my niece's first birthday, and I had just about completed my fifth month of service to the Brigade. The match that we had played to my memory was Big Team Slayer on Hemmorhage. We played well together, and when I checked up on the HQ later that day I was taken aback to see that I was promoted to the rank of Sergeant; promoted from Vitamin himself. At the time I was the third member of the Non Commissioned Officer Core, with Sergeant Iris and First Sergeant Welsh.

I took to being an NCO very well, helping wherever I could on a whole new scale. Things were getting even better over the following weeks. Then the recession of Bravo Company began.

It was about the middle of October when it all started, some members were kicked out for inactivity. Fair to see, but this was the start of many more to follow. Engage informed me that he was leaving the Brigade. I wasn't pleased to hear the news, but I kept on going as I had been.

Between the space of October 15th to 31st, 2010, 10 members of Bravo Company were discharged. Inactivity, resignation, or loss of passion were all on the agenda, and as a result I lost some of the members that I'll remember forever. Engage and Prodigy left the Brigade, and in turn I was somewhat damaged by their departure. Engage recruited me, and I knew him from day one. Prodigy was my long standing partner since his enlistment, and I had taught him a lot during his time here. As Prime was still away doing study, Welsh and I were left to lead Bravo without an Officer.

Although we were able to reduce the decline of Bravo, it still continued, all the while Welsh was losing his motivation and drive to help me keep things afloat.

On November 14th, 2010, The Brigade lost the Eurpoean division of the Brigade. They all left silmultaneously, seemingly out of no where. I was close to the Europeans, so losses of the likes of Exile, Stricken and Astronum had got to me somewhat. Along with the Europeans, Bravo took another great blow - Welsh had resigned from the clan, and I was the sole member and relieving CO of Bravo Company. My mental trainer Elliott also left about a week after this. I will never forget his punishingly difficult jumping maps.

The final strike came to me personally when Zelamin left the Brigade on November 27th, 2010. It was very tough for me from here on in, as I was struggling to keep Bravo stable with all of the losses of my closest friends in the Brigade left. I later had found out that Engage, Prodigy and Zelamin joined a rival clan of Bravo, Punch On Australia. I was none too happy about this, but we remain friends.

I perservered through the adverse circumstances, trying to get Bravo back on its feet. We were only standing at just over 10 members, and Exodus was the only member that I had a tight connection to in Bravo (aside Prime), and I knew of the remaining members.

I managed to keep things in relatively good order upon Prime's return to Bravo Company, and although his return was short lived due to post-graduation celebrations, he and I worked very well together to get things going once more. We developed and trained some more Corporals (Orbit, Exodus, Rekhyt) and even received our first American member of Bravo Company, Grakus Arkadius.

The four Corporals and myself were managing Bravo very well, we managed to get it back on its feet, so to say. Things stayed more or less the same up until late Janurary, where I lost Orbit (he resigned). Grakus left Bravo to correct her sleep schedule, and on top of this Prime was demoted to Sergeant and forcibly retired for his inactivity. And it was just Rekhyt, Exodus and I. After these events, I was promoted to First Sergeant on January 29th, 2011 in recognition of my service to the foreign division of the Brigade.

At that moment, I was truly my own self. I had official and direct control over Bravo Company, my will was carried out in the interest of improving Bravo. Many ideas and plans for improving efficiency were thrown around and implemented, but seldom worked. I had a lot of crash courses in leadership in this manner, as I thought I didn't have many to guide my development. I was wrong, as Prime (and later Equinox) gave me ongoing support in this regard, and I continued to work very hard. In the coming months my long-time protege Rekhyt left the Brigade for various reasons, we still remain friends to this day.

It wasn't until March 18th, 2011 that things in the Brigade changed dramatically. Exodus and Reactive were promoted to Sergeant and were made the newest members of the NCO Core, and Valorious, Ventura and myself were all made Officers, at the entry-level rank of Second Lieutenant.

I spent my days since then overseeing the Company which I spent so much time at the forefront of - Bravo. Nowadays I sit as the most accomplished Australian member to date, I have the current second-highest rank in the clan at Major, and I help manage the Brigade as a whole. However, I still keep up to date with my Company, my comrades which I have known for so long. Foxtrot Company.
