Same video as my previous thread, notice that when the player fires a rocket, the other player on his team is hit and doesn't die.

Can't assume that this is the standard. You have always been able to turn off Friendly Fire. It could have simply been set this way for that game.

Well that probably was the case they turned friendly fire off in that video. Although it would be a good idea if that was permanent. I get tired of being killed by randoms.

I think it is kind of a good thing to have betrayals in the game though. It sucks when you get killed by a random, but normally they get booted or it was an accident. I like it because it adds a new level to the game, a level in which you actually need to be careful and not just fire rockets anywhere or nade spam when your team mates are in the room with some enemies.

Oh, and I agree with what Val said. They probably turned it off for the public demo.

Well this has the same issues as friendly fire always has. Turning it on makes the game much more competitive. Turning it off isolates you, but protects people from griefers and team killers, to an extent.

Personally, I hope friendly fire is standard for MM, as it always has been in Halo.

I hope that friendly fired being turned off isn't the standard. Friendly fire needs to be in the game. I don't like the idea of picking up rockets and being able to carelessly shoot them and not having to take your teammates positioning into account. Like in this video, the person who shot his teammate in the back with the rocket deserves to be punished for that play with some amount of point deduction(equivalent to the amount of a kill, whatever that is in infinity slayer).

I believe on the contrary. I think that everything that is previewed to us, we can assume is the standard. Likely case with the new direction Halo is being moved by 343i, most of the gametypes in matchmaking now will be set at the default settings we're seeing and hearing about. MLG, like always in the past, will probably be the only gametype (with the exceptions of special playlists like Infection, SWAT, etc.) that changes its settings from the "standard".

I don't mind not having friendly fire anymore. While yes, it may have an added a competitive edge, I've never had to worry about killing a teammate in an MLG game, I had only done so once since I started playing Reach. Besides, it means I can stop being bothered by the young kids and randoms when I beat them to the sniper rifle.

Thats a bit over kill, I've been unfortunate to kill some of my teams mates in games, you get punished enough, especially with 1 man down, and if/when you die you get punished as well, with a longer wait time to respawn.

Frankly, having FF on doesn't bother me, and as others have mentioned it adds to the tactical and team dynamic, to not only engage threats but to monitor where your friendlies are as well.

Ya know that's a good point, raging over the sniper or some other power weapon is petty, perhaps weapon drops may fix this issue...

It's the same system that's always been used. The new type of slayer they are playing is to 600 points, not 50 kills. So instead of being deducted a single point(kill) for a betrayal in a 50 kill slayer game, I'm saying they should be deducted the amount of points equivalent to a single kill in the new 600 point slayer variant. I just don't know how many points a kill is worth in the new slayer variant so I don't know how much the deduction would be.

Well.. at least if there wasn't betraying, I won't have to worry about getting booted from the game after some idiot purposely runs in front of my warthog in pub matches. ;0

I agree with Atrium anyone can just pick up the power weapons and shoot it, there would be no consequences with no friendly fire another thing if i was in a vehicle and my ally shot me with a tank i would just go flying which is dumb, as much as i hate to say it ....it needs to be in the game.

It would be great if it is impossible to betray in Halo 4. Therefore, let's say I pick up the Sniper Rifle, I don't have to worry about an imminent betrayal and followed up by a teabagging.

They should keep friendly fire in it even though I'm reckless with the power weapons. It teaches you to be more controlled with your explosives. If friendly fire isn't in it, I can see people shooting a sniper rifle through their teammates to have a personal meat shield.

This shouldn't even be a debate. If friendly fire was off, Competitive Halo would be much easier. Your teammate getting sword rushed or being swamped by enemies? Nade and rocket the hell out of him and problem solved. He walks out with barely a scratch and all of them are down.

The only time Friendly fire would be good off is when people can die with very few bullets, like CoD. When you get too trigger happy and shoot your friends, they don't die because that would be "stupid", although the idiot with the rocket launcher is to blame.
