Some people are more cautious than others. Those who are not confident with sniper stick to the health pack side of objective where they can't help their teammates. It's just some bad habits that have formed.
In echo, we use a more aggressive setup than in this video. Callous taught it to us and it works really well.
It depends on the teammates you have. In that game, I had 2 brigade members, Vode's friend and a random, against 4 randoms.
When I have 4 brigade members who I know can communicate well, I go into a control/offensive kind of strategy where I go into their side of the map, kill 1 person and hold that position to cause a distraction which gives my team a chance to kill as many as they can since the other team will be focusing on me. I use this strategy a lot for scrims and MLG playlist against a To4.
In the videos instance, I was unsure of the 2 non-brigade members level of play so I went control/defensive which worked. This is mainly using power weapons to stop the other team from flanking my team whilst keeping map control. A lot of To1 randoms fall for this type of strategy which is why I topped the scoreboard.
It is all about how you think your teammates can cope with the playstyle you choose. If I picked a heavy aggressive playstyle, then I would dying a lot due to no support fire.
